Job Overview:

The Gait Analysis Expert in the Motion Lab is tasked with conducting comprehensive motion assessments of patients experiencing various gait and movement challenges.

This role involves utilizing cutting-edge motion capture technology to evaluate gait patterns and generate detailed reports that aid in clinical diagnosis and treatment strategies.

Additionally, the expert will assist in measuring clinical metrics, core measures, functional and quality of life surveys, as well as ongoing quality enhancement initiatives. Special projects may also be assigned as needed.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Physician Leaders and align with the Brain and Orthopedic Leadership Team.
  • Independently manage complex projects, contribute to, and oversee processes, making recommendations to enhance departmental performance in specialized neuro motor and cerebral palsy programs.
  • Demonstrate leadership as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with documented outcomes in processes or programs within the area of expertise.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary consultations with physicians and other healthcare team members, documenting outcomes in collaborative processes.
  • Support leaders in facilitating in-services related to evidence-informed practices and literature reviews, focusing on clinical expertise.
  • Translate evidence-informed practices through student education and supervision in the area of specialization.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings related to patient care.
  • Accurately record daily patient documentation, statistics, and charges in a timely manner, adhering to departmental standards.
  • Ensure documentation reflects evidence-informed practices, reviewing a minimum of three unique medical records.
  • Be accountable for improving patient access to care.
  • Conduct and interpret evaluations based on patients' medical concerns, developmental age, diagnosis, and prognosis, providing recommendations based on findings.
  • Maintain active communication with patients and caregivers regarding progress and therapeutic issues.
  • Develop care plans that outline deficits, activity restrictions, and necessary assistance, ensuring goals are functional, realistic, and measurable.
  • Recommend and provide treatments based on clinical and observational findings.
  • Prepare patients and families for discharge at the evaluation time based on maximum potential or when therapy benefits are achieved.
  • Complete at least one in-service on evidence-informed practices in the area of clinical expertise.
  • Engage in department-wide knowledge translation activities related to evidence-informed practices.
  • Conduct peer reviews incorporating evidence-informed practices into treatment plans.
  • Maintain a minimum of 50% of continuing education units in the area of expertise.
  • Collaborate with physicians and stakeholders to create clinical metrics and quality of life outcomes for the Cerebral Palsy & Neuromotor Program.
  • Participate in special projects to promote program growth and efficiency.
  • Work with the multidisciplinary team to align with best practices.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure compliance with program metrics and scorecards.
  • Engage in presentations, publications, and talks related to the Center of Excellence.
  • Utilize compatible software for data processing, storage, and retrieval.
  • Coordinate with Clinical Research Coordinators for research or quality assurance projects.
  • Collaborate with external institutions on multi-center research projects as needed.

Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Biomedical Engineering, Physical Therapy, or a related field is required.

Must maintain active American Heart Association BLS certification throughout employment.

Background checks and Good Moral Character Affidavit must be initiated and finalized within specified timeframes.

A minimum of eight years of pediatric clinical experience or seven years with one year of board certification in a relevant specialty area is required.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Florida Professional Physical Therapist license is highly preferred.
  • Pediatric Board Certification and/or Doctoral degree is preferred.
  • Current APTA membership is preferred.
  • Experience in research, program development, or teaching is beneficial.
  • Prior experience in a clinical gait lab or motion analysis setting is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in motion capture systems, data analysis software, and force plate technology is essential.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
