Director, Energy Trading Program

Job Summary

The Director of the Energy Trading Program at Prairie View A&M University is responsible for planning and managing the day-to-day fiscal, administrative, and operational activities of the program. The successful candidate will have a strong background in energy trading and be able to teach and mentor students in the program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and mentor students in the Energy Trading Program, including courses on trade floor dynamics, trading risk management, and internship courses.
  • Collaborate with industry advisory boards and Prairie View A&M University departments to develop and improve the Energy Trading Program.
  • Mentor and support students throughout their time in the program, providing guidance and preparation for application and admittance.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, supervisors, board members, or other employees in keeping with university guidelines and policies.
  • Serve as the champion for the Energy Trading Program, reviewing and coordinating the development of curriculum and promotional materials.
  • Monitor and administer program/project revenues and expenses, and develop or participate in developing funding proposals for the program.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Ten years of related experience.
  • Appropriate academic credentials to teach within the program area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years of industry experience directly related to energy commodities trading.
  • A deep understanding of energy commodities and trading mechanics.
  • Experience mentoring and/or teaching in a supervisory capacity.
  • Program and project management experience.
