Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Plasma Processing Technician to join our team at CSL Plasma. As a key member of our medical staff, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our donors and the quality of our plasma products.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough medical evaluations of donors to determine suitability for plasma donation.
  • Administer approved immunizations and provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff.
  • Promote positive customer relations with all donors and provide excellent communication skills.
  • Conduct confidential interviews with donors to obtain necessary information regarding suitability to donate plasma.
  • Assess results of donor screening and laboratory tests to determine initial and continuing donor suitability.
  • Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results and refer them to community facilities for follow-up and counseling.
  • Explain informed consent to applicant donors and obtain their signature and date certifying informed consent.
  • Handle medical emergencies at the Center by providing routine care as outlined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and elevating situations to Center Physician or local medical service providers as required.
  • Review test results and determine continued donor suitability, following SOPs regarding acceptable ranges of four-month required test (PE/STS) reports.
  • Assess signs and symptoms a donor may exhibit that may result in the inability to continue donating.
  • Manage employee hepatitis B and influenza immunization program, including administration of immunizations.
  • Understand the policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center where applicable and oversee donor immunization programs.
  • Ensure the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the SOPs.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work environment and ensure sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Active state licensure from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, naturopathic training program, or medical school required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a healthcare environment or one year of clinical experience from a vocational or nursing institution.
  • Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.
  • Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.
  • Ability to instruct donors, staff, and community regarding the benefit of plasma donation programs.
