Deputy Regional Disaster Officer Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Regional Disaster Officer to join our team. As a key member of our disaster response team, you will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of our volunteer-led disaster services program throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage a team of employees and volunteers to deliver disaster services in a rapid, accessible, and equitable manner.
  • Oversee the successful implementation of the disaster cycle services program in alignment with our Fundamental Principles and established program standards.
  • Champion and drive the development of regional Disaster Leadership Volunteers to meet specific responsibilities in disaster readiness, preparedness, response, and recovery.
  • Lead regional efforts to prepare and mobilize communities and engage partners to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters and emergencies.
  • Build relationships and collaborate with internal partners, including employees and volunteers, in a matrix management environment.
  • Act as the regional disaster leader and Red Cross disaster subject matter expert.
  • Initiate, scale, coordinate, and manage disaster relief operations in the region in alignment with our Disaster Cycle Services Concept of Operations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience.
  • 5 years of management experience of paid or volunteer workforce.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications:

A strong program manager with experience in disaster response and recovery.
