Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled EMG Tech to join our team at Mercy Health. As an EMG Tech, you will be responsible for conducting patient testing, including EMG's, electroencephalograms (EEG), nerve conduction studies (NCS), and electronystagmograms (ENG).

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct patient testing, including EMG's, EEG's, NCS's, and ENG's
  • Maintain timely completion of daily patient testing and accurate documentation of patient testing
  • Perform physical maintenance of clinical testing equipment
  • Review and analyze patients' medical history to determine appropriate neurodiagnostic and ultrasound procedures
  • Interview patients and/or family members to obtain additional information
  • Prepare and position patients for testing, including measuring and marking cranial area and fastening electrodes to specified positions on scalp and body
  • Deliver excellent patient experience behaviors, conveying compassion and respect for patients and coworkers
  • Independently perform all neurodiagnostic procedures, including routine and complex EEG's, ambulatory EEG's, NCS's, and TCD's
  • Set up, operate electromyographic equipment to assist neurologists in testing electrical activity of muscles and measuring conducting function of nerves
  • Adjust, monitor, record frequencies and flows, and record filters and sensitivity levels to optimize test results
  • Responsible for the final disposition of interpreted test results, using the Department's database to effectively process testing data and report results
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred
  • Recent experience in EMG and ENG, in addition to EEG, preferred but not required
  • Certification through ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation required; CPR or BCLS certification within 30 days of hire preferred
  • Basic knowledge of anatomy, electronics, and instrumentation required
