Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and lead the Ready-Mix Quality Control Team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor and maintain the quality of raw materials and finished products through rigorous testing and analysis. Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards (CSA, ASTM, ACI, CCIL) and company specifications.
  • Mix Design Development: Develop, optimize, and adjust concrete mix designs to meet specific project requirements and improve product performance.
  • Data Management: Manage and analyze internal and external quality control data, ensuring accurate record-keeping and reporting.
  • Problem Solving: Troubleshoot quality issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to maintain high product standards.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare, review, and manage technical documents, including quality reports, mix design submittals, and other necessary paperwork.
  • Client Support: Work closely with external clients to address quality assurance concerns, providing expert recommendations and solutions.
  • Training and Compliance: Oversee the management of our concrete testing laboratory, including the coordination of technical training and certification programs for QC staff.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with new technical developments in the industry and recommend innovative solutions to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
Requirements
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of related experience in quality control within the ready-mix or concrete industry, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Professional Registration: Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or EIT a plus.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of concrete testing methods, mix design principles, and industry standards (CSA, ASTM, ACI, CCIL).
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team, with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including technical writing and report preparation.
  • Client-Focused: Strong customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with external clients to resolve quality issues.
  • Attention to Detail: Highly organized, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Concrete Experience: Practical experience in placing and finishing concrete is an asset.
