Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced GM/HBC Department Manager to join our team at Albertsons. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the GM/HBC Department, ensuring exceptional customer service, and driving sales and profit growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Exemplify strong customer service in every aspect of the job, championing corporate and division customer service programs to meet or exceed division customer service goals.
  • Department Operations: Direct and control the operation of the GM/HBC Department, including supervising and training personnel to achieve departmental and store sales and profit objectives.
  • Inventory Management: Order grocery product and maintain inventory levels according to Division directives, supervising the processing of all reclamation and maintaining orderly and in-stock conditions in back room, sales floor, and all grocery department areas.
  • Merchandising and Pricing: Supervise the receiving, storing, stocking, pricing, and merchandising of all Grocery products, ensuring compliance with division pricing guidelines and coupon and discount policies.
  • Associate Management: Direct, motivate, train, and participate in the hiring of all Grocery Department personnel, ensuring that all associates are instructed in the proper performance of work duties and are knowledgeable about Company policies and procedures.
  • Performance Management: Monitor associate performance and effectively recommend personnel action, including hiring, firing, layoff, promotion, demotion, and disciplinary action.
  • Store Operations: Responsible for total store operations and directing associates throughout the store, as well as department managers, in the absence of or as needed by the Store Director.
Requirements
  • Experience: Requires an extensive retail background with prior management experience related to retail operations.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills, good leadership and interpersonal skills, and the proven ability to manage people and maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers.
  • Business Acumen: Strong business and financial knowledge, including knowledge of profit and loss statements and emergency plans in the event of a natural disaster, serious accident, or uncommon event.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, occasionally reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 50 lbs, and occasionally push and pull fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
Work Environment

Working conditions consist of a temperature-controlled store environment, with occasional exposure to outdoor environments with varying temperatures.
