Job Summary:
The Crisis Intervention Specialist will be responsible for providing mental health screening assessments, crisis supportive interventions, dispositions, and referrals in consultation with the on-call psychiatrist and/or coordinator for patients in crisis. This role will also involve conducting crisis counseling for patients in crisis situations/bereavement, comprehensive clinical assessments, and assessing for suicide and homicide risk in the Emergency Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plans and provides mental health screening assessments
- Provides crisis supportive interventions
- Dispositions and referrals in consultation with the on-call psychiatrist and/or coordinator for patients in crisis
- Conducts crisis counseling for patients in crisis situations/bereavement
- Conducts comprehensive clinical assessments
- Assesses for suicide and homicide risk in the Emergency Department
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field
- Masters degree preferred
- 2-4 years related experience, knowledge of DSM-V diagnosis and psychotropic medications
- Ability to communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing
- Knowledge of Crisis Intervention & Prevention
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects and follow through to ensure tasks are complete
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to identify and resolve problems, ability to work in a dynamic environment, and computer literacy
