Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support Youth Counselors in their daily duties, ensuring compliance with agency standards and quality care.
  • Maintain order, safety, and security standards within the facility.
  • Uphold daily living routines, schedules, and procedures, providing support to Youth Counselors as needed.
  • Mediate conflicts between staff and youth, ensuring a positive and respectful environment.
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely manner, including incident reports.
  • Support the Program Director/Assistant Director in informal and formal supervision, providing ongoing feedback to staff.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, including logbooks and shift summaries.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director/Assistant Director to address Youth Counselor disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure Youth Counselors review and support youth in accordance with their behavior support plans.
  • Manage youth behavior using the principles of the MYSI Model, with the goal of teaching positive, lasting changes.
  • Ensure a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the facility.
  • Provide safe transportation for youth and attend various appointments, including driving residents to and from school, medical appointments, and off-site family visits.
  • Attend mandatory training programs as required by ACS, OCFS, and the Agency.
  • Adhere to all ACS, OCFS, and agency regulations.
  • Uphold rules, repertoire of responses, confrontation techniques, and Safe Crisis Management principles.
  • Manage peer group dynamics, promote a positive peer group culture, and support medical issues and educational/vocational needs.
  • Provide documentation of supervision and maintain a log for all staff supervised.
  • Flexibility to work other shifts based on programmatic needs.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Valid NYS Driver's License and clean driving record.
  • Ability to drive a 10 to 15 passenger van.
  • Prior experience working in a group home required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to working from a strength-based and youth development perspective.
  • Ability to travel to all five boroughs.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Rising Ground.
  • Ability to pass required Safe Crisis Management training and recertification.
