The Visual Media Specialist holds the authority over the selection of images, their arrangement, color schemes, and overall presentation in the Champion. This role offers valuable experience in collaborating with editors and photographers to creatively assemble weekly editions. Regular office hours are maintained to ensure availability and engagement with students, either in person or via digital platforms as directed by supervisory personnel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Generate photographic content for the Liberty Champion and associated media.
- Exhibit a keen eye for visual composition.
- Delegate photo assignments to practicum and community service students.
- Organize and manage images for easy retrieval.
- Coordinate with administration to request photo shoots.
- Uphold Liberty University policies, representing the institution with integrity.
- Collaborate effectively as a team member, supporting and promoting Liberty University's mission.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES
The individual will oversee the work of students enrolled in DIGI 487 Field Projects and Practica, as well as community service volunteers. Collaboration with the creative editorial team, copy editors, and designers is essential to develop the final visual product.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
This position is typically suited for candidates with a background in journalism or photography, though other relevant experience may be considered. A strong ability to visualize the necessary imagery to narrate a story is essential.

Office Setting
The typical work environment for this position is a climate-controlled office space that is well-lit with a moderate noise level. The role may also involve attending and capturing images at outdoor events, necessitating appropriate attire.
This position requires a commitment of 20 hours per week.
DRIVING REQUIREMENTS
Utilization of personal or university vehicles may be necessary for travel related to job responsibilities. A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and liability insurance are required.
