About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Systems Engineer to join our team at Kohler. As a key member of our automation team, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and validating automated equipment to deploy to our local plant network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical and control systems, including sensors, servo axes, PLCs, HMIs, and fieldbus.
  • Develop and implement electrical and pneumatic designs for manufacturing equipment, including control cabinets and field electrical wiring.
  • Program PLCs in a structured format, working closely with operations engineering to ensure sustainability.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to calibrate robots and vision systems, and complete robot and vision programs.
  • Manage electrical documents throughout the design and deployment process, providing power consumption, system cost, and estimated build and programming time to operations engineering.
  • Work with purchasing and supply chain to select automation suppliers based on technical proposals, global support, and prices.
  • Apply sustainability principles to reduce energy and material usage in electrical design.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in electrical engineering or manufacturing engineering.
  • Experience with NEC code standard, electrical wiring, and PLC diagnostics, programming, and robotics application.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Mechanical and/or Inventor Pro is a plus.
