Key Responsibilities:
MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS:
Support the value stream leader by directing operational and enhancement initiatives within a designated production sector. You will oversee Team Leaders and hourly production staff, ensuring optimal performance across critical metrics such as safety, quality, delivery, cost, and team morale. Align departmental objectives with broader organizational goals and allocate resources effectively to achieve these targets.
Manage daily production activities, ensuring adequate staffing and addressing absenteeism proactively. Review production plans with Team Leaders and ensure timely completion of production line documentation.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of operational processes, following established protocols to address abnormalities and implement corrective measures as necessary. Act as a primary contact for Team Leaders and production personnel, facilitating issue resolution through appropriate channels.
Ensure adherence to Lean manufacturing principles and the escalation process within the production environment. Participate in daily production meetings, communicating essential updates to Team Leaders and the leadership team.
Oversee the implementation of standardized work processes, ensuring stability and compliance through coaching and development of Team Leaders and team members.
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT:
Embrace and promote the principles of the production system, driving continuous improvement within your assigned area. Lead your team in addressing inefficiencies and champion problem-solving initiatives to identify root causes of production challenges. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to minimize waste and enhance operational efficiency.
Act as a key participant in departmental meetings, prioritizing issues and tracking resolutions to ensure accountability.
Facilitate Kaizen events and support work area rebalancing efforts using analytical tools.
LEADERSHIP & ADMINISTRATION:
Provide daily leadership and direction to your manufacturing team, partnering with Human Resources to ensure fair policy administration. Manage staffing levels and oversee timekeeping processes to ensure accurate payroll and compliance with labor regulations.
Lead employee performance management processes, ensuring timely and consistent disciplinary actions are documented and communicated.
QUALITY:
Ensure that all products meet quality standards and specifications. Monitor production quality daily, addressing any issues promptly and collaborating with stakeholders to resolve them effectively.
Work closely with quality assurance teams to enhance metrics related to production yield and service performance.
SAFETY:
Oversee safety performance within the production area, fostering a culture of safety compliance and proactive risk management. Lead investigations into incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Maintain a comprehensive safety action item list, ensuring all near misses and corrective actions are addressed in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a manufacturing or operations environment is preferred. A minimum of five years of experience in material handling, supplier management, or project implementation is required.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams effectively, with strong organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
Possess strong technical knowledge, leadership capabilities, and exceptional communication skills. Experience with Lean methodologies and Six Sigma certification is a plus.
