Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Kedren Community Health And Acute Psychiatric Hospital. As a key member of our mental health services team, you will provide high-quality psychiatric care to clients in a variety of clinical settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including psycho-social assessments, to establish diagnoses and develop treatment plans.
  • Order and evaluate diagnostic tests to inform treatment decisions.
  • Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue medications and treatments to manage mental health disorders.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate client care and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide timely and accurate completion of medical records, including assessment, treatment plan, progress notes, outcome measures, and billing entries.
  • Counsel clients during appointments and design/participate in the development of individualized treatment plans.
  • Examine or order laboratory or diagnostic tests to provide information on general physical conditions and mental disorders.
  • Collaborate with guardians, relatives, and significant others on client conditions and treatment when clinically appropriate.
  • Prepare and submit assessments, progress notes, reports, and summaries to entities/agencies as required.
  • Respond to client emergencies and be accessible to Kedren's 24/7 crisis clinicians.
Requirements
  • A valid Nurse Practitioner License from California Board of Registered Nursing.
  • A minimum of 2+ years' experience working with emotionally or mentally disturbed patients (children and adults), preferably recent experience in an acute inpatient psychiatric setting.
  • Preferred ability to or experience in mentoring or preceptorship.
  • Experience and ability to work with multi-cultured, multiethnic populations.
  • Demonstrated use of crisis intervention skills, teamwork, and communication skills in the management of care for high-level acuity psychiatric patients in a fast-paced environment.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers or CPR certification.
