Position Overview

The Accountant II plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for executing a variety of professional accounting tasks that support various functional areas such as sales tax, retainage, accruals, and complex reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts comprehensive financial analysis and reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established accounting principles.
  • Prepares and maintains precise financial records, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Collaborates with internal departments to gather necessary data for thorough research and analysis.
  • Implements analytical techniques to validate the integrity of financial information.
  • Provides exceptional customer service and may lead training initiatives within the accounting team.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is between $50,000 and $110,000, with a midpoint of $75,000. New hires typically start at or near the midpoint, depending on experience and market conditions. Sound Transit offers a competitive benefits package, including:

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, along with three years of relevant accounting experience. Familiarity with public accounting or governmental accounting is preferred.

Skills Required
  • In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel and automated accounting systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
