The Accountant II plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for executing a variety of professional accounting tasks that support various functional areas such as sales tax, retainage, accruals, and complex reconciliations.
Key Responsibilities- Conducts comprehensive financial analysis and reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established accounting principles.
- Prepares and maintains precise financial records, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Collaborates with internal departments to gather necessary data for thorough research and analysis.
- Implements analytical techniques to validate the integrity of financial information.
- Provides exceptional customer service and may lead training initiatives within the accounting team.
The salary range for this position is between $50,000 and $110,000, with a midpoint of $75,000. New hires typically start at or near the midpoint, depending on experience and market conditions. Sound Transit offers a competitive benefits package, including:

- Retirement Plans: 401a with a 12% match and 457b options.
- Paid Time Off: 25 days of annual leave, 12 paid holidays, and additional floating holidays.
- Tuition Reimbursement: Up to $5,000 annually for approved educational expenses.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, along with three years of relevant accounting experience. Familiarity with public accounting or governmental accounting is preferred.
Skills Required- In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel and automated accounting systems.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
