Job Summary

Responsibilities

  • Deliver legal services and advise human resources specialists on preventative law matters, including pre- and post-litigation.
  • Advise on disciplinary actions and employee performance.
  • Deliver legal services to include administrative investigations, requests for reasonable accommodation, personnel laws, human resources policy matters, and security matters.
  • Advise on adverse, performance, and other personnel actions; advise on labor-management relations; the application of personnel, labor-management relations, civilian personnel law, and antidiscrimination laws.
  • Serve as agency representative in administrative forums such as the Merit Systems Protection Board, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and Federal Labor Relations Authority.
  • Provide litigation support to the Department of Justice in representing the Department of the Navy in Federal Courts.

Requirements

Applicants must have at least three and one-half years of professional, relevant legal experience working as an attorney in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized Experience

  • Advising on adverse, performance, and other civilian personnel actions.
  • Advising on labor-management relations.
  • Applying personnel, labor-management relations, and antidiscrimination laws.

Additional Information

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. Relocation expenses or relocation incentives may be authorized in accordance with applicable travel regulations.
