Job Summary

Summit Aviation is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Assembler to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for the assembly of aircraft components in a timely manner, ensuring high-quality products that meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Fabricate, assemble, manufacture, and install equipment used in research and development of various aircraft components.
  2. Work with technical manuals, technical orders, manufacturing technical data, modification work orders, and blueprints to ensure accurate assembly.
  3. Makes modifications to existing airframe components to accommodate installations, coordinating with project engineers and providing technical assistance as needed.
  4. Perform sheet metal manufacturing, modifications, and repairs to various aircraft components, utilizing tools and equipment associated with a sheet metal shop.
  5. Possess in-depth knowledge of sheet metal materials and repair techniques, ensuring high-quality products.
  6. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and rudimentary drawings to ensure accurate assembly.
  7. Perform a full range of manufacturing responsibilities, including maintenance, repair, modifications, inspections, and servicing of aircraft parts and components.
  8. Set up and operate a full range of sheet metal tools, working from engineering design drawings and technical specifications.
  9. Perform mathematical calculations involving plain and solid geometry and principles of measurement.
  10. Work with various thicknesses of aluminum, steel alloys, stainless steel, copper, brass, and other ferrous and non-ferrous metals, forming sheet metal into desired shapes.
  11. Ability to make transition fittings (round to square, round to round) and knowledgeable in approved methods and materials used in aircraft painting and preservation.
  12. Responsible for cleaning, sanding, masking, priming, painting, and de-masking aircraft parts in preparation for installation or customer needs.
  13. Must be knowledgeable regarding aircraft structure, surface protection techniques, and aircraft modification.
  14. Must be able to operate and maintain sanders, grinders, paint spray guns, and other equipment.
  15. Perform preventive maintenance checks on equipment as assigned.
  16. Responsible for conducting activities related to the repair, alteration, manufacture, and maintenance of assigned articles.
  17. Must be able to complete work scope of assignments as assigned by lead, supervisor, or management.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1-5 years of prior Aviation Manufacturing/Assembly experience required.
  • Experience in machine, manufacture, assembly of aircraft parts and components, and sheet metal shop practices, with at least five (5) years related to the manufacture, modification, fabrication, and installation of parts.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work effectively and contribute in a team environment and self-direct work.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is very loud but falls within acceptable limits of OSHA guidelines.
