Job Summary

Prairie Ridge Health is seeking a skilled Station Chef to join our Culinary Department. This PRN position requires flexibility with shifts of 5:30am-2pm, 9:30am-6pm, and 10:30am-7pm, with one holiday and one weekend per month required.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing food for patients, catering, and the cafeteria menu, ensuring high-quality standards and food safety protocols are met. They will also oversee the food service/culinary department in the absence of the Manager of Food, Nutrition and Diabetes Services and/or Executive Chef, Sous Chef, and/or Assistant Sous Chef.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and assembling patient food items and trays
  • Maintaining sanitation and upkeep of the food service/culinary department
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards
  • Training new team members and understanding core duties of all positions in the department
  • Staffing all kitchen positions, including Cold Cook, Breakfast Cook, Front of House, and Ware Washer, on a scheduled and short notice basis

Requirements include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent desirable
  • ServSafe Food Manager certification required within 4 months of start date or within 3 attempts to pass the exam, whichever comes first
  • Preferred knowledge of therapeutic diets
  • Previous institutional cooking or food service experience desirable

This is a PRN position, with various shifts and requirements for one holiday and one weekend per month.
