Talascend is seeking a skilled 1st Shift Mechanic for a direct hire opportunity with our client located in Melrose Park, IL.
Job Summary:The 1st Shift Mechanic will be responsible for performing mechanical repairs and maintenance of industrial machines. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform preventative maintenance to ensure machines continue to run smoothly, including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting parts, equipment, or machinery.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulics, pneumatics, drives, motors, and belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or performing other maintenance actions.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
- Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
- Record repairs and maintenance performed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 3+ years of related experience.
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical failures on large/heavy industrial machinery in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Solid understanding of safe work practice and OSHA requirements.
- Must be comfortable working at heights.
- Bilingual Spanish/English.
- Able to work in a non-climate-controlled plant with varying temperatures.
