About the Position

This role is responsible for supporting the Environmental/Scientific program, projects, and team in maintaining natural parks, preserves, and reserves. The position involves habitat restoration, listed species monitoring, and management of nuisance species. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ecological field work, public speaking, and infrastructure maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage natural areas, including protected species monitoring and habitat restoration.
  • Document and manage nuisance species and vegetation, and implement control measures.
  • Assist with contract management and oversight, and develop land management plans.
  • Work with the Emergency Services team to plan and conduct prescribed burns.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Support public access on natural area lands, including maintenance and upkeep of trails, amenities, and signage.
Requirements
  • Two-year degree with two years of professional experience in a related field, or a Bachelor's degree in a biological or physical science.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License by date of hire.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience with herbicides and pesticides, knowledge of Florida's flora and fauna, and certifications in prescribed fire training and herbicide application.
About the Schedule

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional weekend work may be required for events and special projects.
