About the Role

Splash Financial is seeking a seasoned Technical Engineering Manager to lead our technology department. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of technical people management experience, with a strong background in both frontend and backend development. They should be comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams and have excellent communication skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading an engineering team, building and managing Splash Financial's public-facing website, affiliate partnerships, and online product application experience. They will also work closely with internal teams to align priorities, sequence work, and set expectations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team of engineers in building and managing Splash Financial's public-facing website, affiliate partnerships, and online product application experience
  • Collaborating with internal teams to align priorities, sequence work, and set expectations
  • Performance managing, growing, and elevating team talent through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and calibration sessions
  • Implementing best practice engineering methods and striving for operational excellence across the teams
  • Contributing to the vision and OKR setting for the engineering department and fostering a community of technical learning and growth

Requirements include:

  • Expert-level knowledge of JavaScript and its ecosystem
  • Strong functional programming skills
  • 4+ years of people management experience, leading technical teams of engineers in fintech or tech startups
  • Experience in designing in a microservices architecture paradigm and strong knowledge of one or more backend languages, databases, cloud hosting providers, infrastructure as code, and interservice communication protocols
  • Experience with orchestrated distributed systems and first-class workflows is a major plus
  • Experience with remote observability tools for logging, monitoring, and alerting is required
  • Excellent written communication skills, including technical writing, and the habit of designing deliberately, first, through design documents
  • A can-do, positive attitude and a tendency to learn the business and the domain it operates in, with a focus on driving business outcomes
