Position Overview

The Technical Manager will lead a team of 5 to 10 members, including group leaders, chemists, and specialists, to provide technical support for key customers throughout North America. This role will also assist in identifying, developing, and executing strategies to grow NPAA's automotive pre-treat business.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage a team and critical projects to meet project timelines, ensuring technology and formulation are brought to market as needed.
  2. Interface and strengthen communication with other departments, locations, and divisions to develop strategies and resolve ongoing challenges.
  3. Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key OEM, customer, and supplier contacts.
  4. Identify, initiate, and lead continuous improvement projects to drive business process enhancement.
  5. Present technical data, company offerings, and strategies to customers or internal stakeholders.
  6. Ensure adherence to formulation, safety, environmental, and other company standards or processes.

Requirements

This role requires a college degree in chemistry or a related technical field, typically with 5 years or more of experience in the surface treatment or coatings industry. Advanced degree preferred. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of structure-property relationships in polymer chemistry, sol-gel chemistry, and coating/surface treatment formulation. Familiarity with typical analytical chemistry techniques and the ability to work in proximity to paints and chemicals are also required. Japanese language fluency is preferred but not required.
