We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Exercise Physiologist to join our team at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center.

As a Clinical Exercise Physiologist, you will be responsible for developing complex exercise prescriptions and assessing the effectiveness of interventions. You will also be required to respond to medical emergencies in the clinical setting and assist with scheduling, clinical clerical tasks, and quality improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess participants' relevant information to develop a plan of care with other team members.
  • Develop and revise individual exercise prescriptions in accordance with AACVPR and ACSM guidelines and physician recommendations.
  • Monitor participants and report any adverse responses to exercise.
  • Assist with emergency care and document initiation and daily assessments within established times.
  • Plan and educate participants regarding walking and home exercise programs and use of equipment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of nutrition, risk factor modification, and behavioral change approaches.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in exercise science, exercise physiology, or kinesiology or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience working in a healthcare environment.
  • ACLS certification within 90 days.
  • ASCM, AACVPR, or CEPA certification or equivalent within 1 year.
