Medical Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital. As a Medical Assistant, you will provide clinical support to medical practitioners, assist with minor surgical procedures, and conduct follow-up with patients concerning lab and other test results.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for medical appointments and procedures.
- Assist medical practitioners with minor surgical procedures and in-office testing and treatment.
- Triage patient calls and communicate with patients regarding test results and recommendations.
- Collect and document patient information and reports.
- Execute standing orders and routine preventative services as authorized by medical practitioners.
- Provide educational information to patients and answer questions regarding their care.
- Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) to document patient information and communicate with medical practitioners.
- Perform job duties with minimal waste of supplies, materials, and time.
- Demonstrate safe behavior and maintain a safe environment.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to remain current in medical procedures and best practices.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.
- Experience working in a medical office setting preferred.
- Computer literacy and ability to learn EMR systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions:
Potential exposure to diseases or infections. Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Lifting, moving, and loading 20-30 pounds. Extend body and limbs to reach items.
