POSITION SUMMARY:
This role is a salaried position responsible for overseeing quality control operations. The QC Supervisor will manage the verification of analytical results, ensuring that all testing instruments are accurately calibrated. This position also involves training technicians and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and customer specifications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide training to Quality Control Technicians on quality control procedures and HACCP principles; perform routine quality checks and review daily documentation.
- Verify results from Critical Control Points (CCP) testing and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Review and sign off on Safety Chain forms submitted by QC Technicians and Inspectors.
- Implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Conduct audits of production and processing to ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for food safety and quality.
- Execute Environmental Monitoring Procedures (EMP) to validate sanitation practices.
- Assess food processing and storage operations and assist in developing quality assurance programs.
- Validate the functionality of metal detectors to ensure effective rejection of contaminated products.
- Monitor product shelf life through chemical and sensory testing, ensuring compliance with specifications.
- Update specifications as needed and communicate changes effectively to the team.
- Verify microbiological analysis results and issue Certificates of Analysis (COA).
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and labeling requirements.
- Provide technical support to both internal and external stakeholders; address customer complaints and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Inspect incoming materials for compliance with company standards.
- Conduct analytical tests on samples using standard methods specific to the materials.
- Participate in food safety training programs across various departments.
- Contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
- Engage in special projects related to shelf life studies, packaging validation, HACCP risk assessments, internal audits, and competitive evaluations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Nutrition, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality role within food processing.
- Proficient in statistical analysis and data interpretation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills along with effective leadership abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with various departments, suppliers, and customers.
PREFERRED:
- Familiarity with safety practices in a manufacturing environment.
