Overview

Mercy Medical Center Redding has been providing comprehensive healthcare in the North State for over 70 years. Our 267-bed hospital offers a range of medical services, including a Level II Trauma Center, Cardiovascular Care, Stroke Care, Orthopedics, Neurological Surgery, Comprehensive Cancer Care, Maternity Care, and da Vinci Robotic Surgery.

Responsibilities

This position is a New Graduate Residency Transition-to-Practice Program for newly licensed RNs. The program is designed to support the development of critical thinking, evidence-based decision-making, stress management, and leadership skills.

Program Description

The Nurse Residency Program is a 12-month program that includes an 18-week clinical immersion experience with a trained preceptor. Upon completion of the 18-week preceptorship, the nurse resident will begin a mentorship journey with a qualified mentor to complete the 12-month transition-to-practice experience.

Available Departments

Department assignments are based on several criteria, including background, work experience, effort to obtain additional education/certifications, and skills. Upon successful completion of the program, the RN will be placed in a full-time, benefitted position within one of the following departments:

  • Medical Acute
  • Medical Surgical Oncology
  • Orthopedics Acute
  • Surgical Acute
  • Telemetry - Neuro
  • Telemetry IMCU-Cardiac
  • Progressive Care Unit
  • Intensive Care Unit
  • Emergency Department

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for this program include:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a 3.0 G.P.A. or higher
  • Graduation within the last 12 months
  • Less than 6 months of inpatient (acute care) work experience as an RN
  • Current active California RN license and AHA BLS-HCP certification prior to program start date
