Mercy Medical Center Redding is a comprehensive healthcare provider in the North State, offering acute care and a range of medical services. Our 267-bed hospital is a Level II Trauma Center and provides specialized care in cardiovascular, stroke, orthopedics, neurological surgery, and cancer treatment. We are the sole provider of obstetrical services and have a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Shasta County.
ResponsibilitiesThis position is a New Graduate Residency Transition-to-Practice Program for newly licensed RNs. The program is a 12-month residency that includes an 18-week clinical immersion experience with a trained preceptor. Upon completion, the nurse resident will begin a mentorship journey with a qualified mentor to complete the 12-month transition-to-practice experience.
Program DescriptionThe Nurse Residency Program is a robust, focused program that fosters the development of critical thinking, evidence-based decision-making, stress management, and leadership skills. The content is created to prepare newly licensed nurse residents to deliver safe, effective, and quality patient care. The nurse resident will experience interdisciplinary care via clinical rotations with departments such as Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Lab, Physical Therapy, Wound Care, Radiology, Cath Lab, and Rapid Response.
Available DepartmentsDepartment assignments are based on several criteria, including background, work experience, effort to obtain additional education/certifications, and skills. Upon successful completion of the program, the RN will be placed in a full-time, benefitted position within one of the following departments:
- Medical Acute
- Medical Surgical Oncology
- Orthopedics Acute
- Surgical Acute
- Telemetry - Neuro
- Telemetry IMCU-Cardiac
- Progressive Care Unit
- Intensive Care Unit
- Emergency Department
