Your Role at Salem Health:

As a Medical Assistant with Salem Health, you will utilize your exceptional interpersonal skills, clinical knowledge, and critical thinking abilities to identify the needs and urgency of our patients' healthcare situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients and alert physicians to potential life-threatening situations in a timely manner.
  • Recognize critical diagnostic data and alert physicians accordingly.
  • Determine priorities of care and intervene in situations outside normal clinic protocol.
  • Anticipate the need for diagnostic tests and initiate testing according to protocols.
  • Ensure adequate discharge instructions are given to patients, including family members, and refer patients for future care as needed.
  • Perform waived laboratory testing procedures according to protocols and demonstrate continued competency.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in medication safety, security, and administration within scope of practice and clinic protocols.

Background/Expertise:

  • Experience in urgent care, family practice, or clinic specialty offices is preferred.
  • National certification from NCCT, NHA, AMT, or AAMA is required.
  • Current BLS certification from the AHA is required.
