Medical Assistant/Certified MA

As a Medical Assistant with Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our clinical teams. Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patients and alert physicians to potential life-threatening situations
- Recognize critical diagnostic data and alert the physician in a timely fashion
- Recognize changes in patient condition and report priorities of care and intervene in those cases falling outside the parameters of normal clinic protocol
- Anticipate the need for selected diagnostic tests and initiate testing according to protocols
- Ensure adequate discharge instructions are given to each patient, that family members are included in discharge instructions if available, that patients are referred for future care appropriately, and the community resource information is available to patients
- Perform waived laboratory testing procedures according to protocols; demonstrate continued competency in patient testing, quality control, and proficiency testing
- Demonstrate adequate knowledge and expertise with regard to medication safety/security and administration within scope of practice and appropriate clinic protocols
- Demonstrate competency in all areas of clinical care encompassed within the clinic setting

Requirements:
Experience in either an urgent care, family practice, or clinic specialty office is preferred. National certification from NCCT, NHA, AMT, or AAMA is required, and current BLS certification from the AHA is also required.
