The role of a **Clinical Nurse Specialist** encompasses the execution of nursing practices that require significant specialized expertise, critical thinking, and nursing proficiency grounded in the principles of psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Conducting thorough **observations**, **assessments**, and **nursing diagnoses**, along with the **planning**, **intervention**, and **evaluation** of patient care.
- Providing **health education** and **counseling** to patients who are ill, injured, or disabled, while also promoting wellness, maintaining health, and preventing illness.
- Administering medications and treatments as prescribed or authorized by a licensed practitioner in accordance with state regulations.
- Overseeing and instructing other healthcare personnel in the principles and execution of the aforementioned tasks.
- A nurse is responsible for delivering competent care to patients, which involves clarifying job responsibilities with management and assessing personal skills, knowledge, and competencies. Competent nursing care also necessitates informed judgment and decision-making.
The professional nurse collaborates with staff, physicians, and patients to enhance programs aimed at reducing Hospital Acquired Conditions (HACs) and Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs).
Utilizes the **Situation, Background, Assessment & Recommendation (SBAR)** communication format for effective handoff communication within the department and with other departments, ensuring patient and family involvement during bedside shift reports.
Engages in critical thinking and escalates concerns as necessary to ensure patient needs are met safely and promptly, while operating within the RN scope of practice.
Prepares medical equipment and assists physicians during patient examinations and treatments.
May be required to work beyond the standard duty hours or in different patient care units as directed by the department head or nursing supervisor.
**Qualifications:** Must possess a valid Florida RN license. An Associate's Degree in Nursing is required, with a Bachelor's Degree preferred. Current BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications through ARC or AHA are necessary. Experience of 0-2 years is preferred but not mandatory. New graduates are welcome to apply.
