Job Title: Probation Officer

Join the Tennessee Middle Probation and Pretrial Services team as a Probation Officer and play a vital role in ensuring public safety and rehabilitation of offenders.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Probation Officer to join our team. As a Probation Officer, you will be responsible for supervising and monitoring offenders in the community, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their rehabilitation goals, and working closely with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to ensure public safety.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and monitor offenders in the community, including conducting regular home visits and monitoring their compliance with court orders.
  • Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation plans to help offenders achieve their goals and reduce the risk of reoffending.
  • Provide guidance and support to offenders, including counseling and mentoring, to help them overcome challenges and achieve their rehabilitation goals.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to ensure public safety and address any concerns or issues that may arise.
  • Conduct regular reviews and assessments of offenders to ensure they are meeting their rehabilitation goals and making progress towards their release.
  • Prepare and submit reports to the court and other stakeholders as required.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as criminal justice, criminology, or psychology.
  • At least one year of experience in a related field, such as probation, pretrial services, or corrections.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with offenders, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of federal law and the criminal justice system, with a strong understanding of the role and function of the probation/pretrial services officer.
