We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Nurse Assistant I to join our team at Kaiser Permanente's Sunnyside Medical Center. As a member of our nursing team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the overall success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain confidentiality of patient and organization records and information.
- Take responsibility to stay informed of Departmental communications.
- Coordinate with the Charge RN/Supervising RN to provide appropriate coverage when leaving the unit.
- Obtain assignments from charge nurse/Supervising RN and report to the RN the status of assignments at regular intervals during shift.
- Communicate patient care information to maintain standards of care.
- Communicate with patients, families, and other staff in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner.
- Provide assistance to members or connect members with the appropriate person as needed.
- Ensure safe practice standards of performance.
- Maintain safety in the use of all equipment.
- Operate and maintain equipment according to manufacturer's instructions and hospital policy.
- Report the need for repair, remove and tag defective equipment, and initiate repair requests according to policy and procedure.
- Identify patients by checking identification bands prior to performing duties.
- Handle all hazardous waste in compliance with HazCom regulations.
- Handle all infectious waste in compliance with Infection Control standards.
- Perform appropriate roles during Codes.
- Deliver all services in a manner that promotes patient comfort and safety.
- Assist patients and team members in safely lifting, transferring, turning, positioning, ambulating, and transporting.
- Assist in the application of safety devices as assigned by the RN.
- Perform delegated tasks as defined in the CNA1 Scope of Duties.
- Accurately measure and record vital signs and report abnormal findings immediately to the supervising RN.
- Collect and transport specimens when necessary.
- Document completion of delegated tasks on designated chart forms.
- Report observed changes in patient condition to the supervising RN.
- Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients.
- Complete tasks in an efficient and timely manner as assigned.
- Collaborate with the supervising RN to prioritize tasks according to situation and total assignment.
- Remain adaptable to changes in the work environment and related assignments.
- Must have completed a basic nursing assistant training program approved by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Nursing Assistant Certificate - Level 1 (Oregon)
- Basic Life Support
- Physical Requirements:
- Lifting and carrying: able to lift and carry at least 40 pounds.
- May assist in the movement of patients and/or equipment whose weight may range from 100-300 pounds.
- Bending: able to bend up to 60 times per shift, at both the waist and knees.
- Walking: able to stand and/or walk for the entire shift. Able to walk a distance of three to five miles during the course of a shift.
- Able to push/pull weights 100 to 300 pounds with assistance.
- Standing: able to stand six to eight hours per shift.
- BLS w/AED Certification
