Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with design engineers to evaluate and endorse part and tooling assemblies, providing insights based on enhanced Design for Manufacturing (DfM) strategies.
• Develop clear work instructions alongside design engineers to outline manufacturing processes, create training materials, and instruct technicians.
• Implement process improvement techniques (e.g., value stream mapping, problem-solving, visual management) to minimize manufacturing hours and quality concerns, boost production rates, and eliminate waste.
• Conduct capacity assessments to determine optimal staffing needs.
• Plan and execute upgrades for capital equipment, machinery, and layouts to meet production demands.
• Work with structural analysts to ensure performance targets are achieved.
• Provide hands-on engineering support during hardware prototype development and testing phases.
• Design effective material handling, packaging, and labeling systems to safeguard and identify hardware throughout the manufacturing and testing lifecycle.
• Support testing operations, offering opportunities to influence design improvements and enhance reliability.
• Develop strategies for planning, controlling, and optimizing processes within the Manufacturing Execution System.
• Create tooling, jigs, and fixtures to facilitate parts manufacturing.
• Cultivate relationships with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of hardware and equipment.
• Operate various equipment including wire EDM, band saws, CNC machines, and hand tools as necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing, Production, or Process Engineering.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities.
• Proficient in interpreting engineering models, drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
• Familiarity with metal and polymer additive manufacturing processes and best practices.
• Knowledge of composite manufacturing processes and best practices.
• Flexibility to work varying hours as required.
• Must be a U.S. Person as defined in 22 CFR Part.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated experience in an industrial setting from concept to manufacturing of high-performance composite components.
• Background in composite design and production for aerospace applications.
• Experience with CAM programming.
• Knowledge of Design for Additive Manufacturing for both metal and polymer processes.
• Proficiency in NX and other CAD software.
• Understanding of industry standards and references (e.g., MIL-HDBK-5/17, ECSS-E-HB-32, NASA-STD-5001, GSFC-STD-7000).
