Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Lufkin Independent School District. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on our fleet of vehicles, ensuring they are in good working condition and meet safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues with diesel engines and other vehicle systems
  • Inspect vehicles to identify potential problems and recommend preventative maintenance
  • Work with lead mechanics to complete major repairs and maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs
Requirements
  • Clear and valid Texas commercial driver's license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
  • Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine maintenance and repair
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules and operating instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others and provide excellent customer service
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, and noise. You will be required to lift heavy objects and work in tight spaces.
