Job Overview

The Senior Engineering Project Leader (SEPL) reports directly to the Engineering Project Management Supervisor.
The SEPL is tasked with steering the product development team to achieve all project milestones as outlined at the project's initiation. SEPLs possess a comprehensive understanding of the design and development lifecycle of electronic systems. Collaborating with a cross-functional team from various internal departments, the SEPL is accountable for managing projects related to power electronics for both military and commercial applications from the initial proposal stage through to hardware qualification. The SEPL oversees the planning process, drives customer requirements, and guarantees that engineering deliverables are accomplished within the agreed schedule, budget, and quality standards. The SEPL ensures adherence to GE's established procedures and protocols. This role necessitates exceptional interpersonal communication skills and effective coordination with Business Development, Engineering, Operations, and Manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties
  • Develop and oversee the design and execution of engineering projects.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal resource allocation.
  • Ensure delivery of project scope within the original budget, timeline, and quality parameters.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and the integration of New Product Introduction (NPI) and/or requisition projects, while influencing project teams to meet customer deadlines and achieve key milestones.
  • Leverage extensive knowledge of product development and analytical skills to execute projects effectively.
  • Maintain awareness of all facets of the design and development process, proactively addressing and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Utilize sound judgment to propose innovative solutions for complex challenges in collaboration with technical teams and other stakeholders.
  • Mentor colleagues and foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and develop consensus among team members on various topics.
  • Provide accurate estimates on cycle times and design tasks to create project schedules in MS Project, including performance indicators for schedule and cost.
Essential Qualifications
  • Proven experience in Electronic Product Development and Project Management.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Technical Degree) and/or Project Management, coupled with over 10 years of experience leading large-scale projects as a project manager.
Preferred Attributes
  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management and management of key performance indicators.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve issues effectively.
  • Proficient in documenting, planning, and executing programs, with established project management and leadership capabilities.
  • Experience leading cross-functional Integrated Product Teams (IPT).
  • Knowledge of NPI Product Design and Development in Aerospace, including DO-254 & DO-178, MIL-STD-810G, etc.
  • Significant project management experience within the Aerospace sector. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
  • Experience in creating project management plans and budget work packages.
  • Limited travel may be required.
This position requires access to technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and is only open to U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of citizenship.
