Phlebotomy Specialist

Actalent is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist I to join our team. As a Phlebotomist I, you will play a crucial role in assisting with various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Key Responsibilities- Blood Collection and Specimen Handling: Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontamination.
- Patient Interaction: Update patient information and collect/store specimens according to established procedures.
- Communication and Education: Explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, and other specimen collections in a clear and courteous manner.
- Technical Skills: Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Order Management: Fully understand all of the physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Specimen Preparation: Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order, ensuring 100% accuracy.
- Transportation and Storage: Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature.
- Regulatory Compliance: Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Training and Support: Attend annual department trainings and answer telephone inquiries by reading laboratory results.
- Hard Skills: Phlebotomy, Blood Draw, Venipuncture, Pediatrics, Butterfly Needles, Hard Sticks, Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Soft Skills: Clear and courteous communication, Attention to detail, Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, Troubleshooting, Training others, Workflow management.
This is a contract position with a duration of 13 weeks. The work environment is a busy Patient Service Center, ideal for someone with experience in handling higher volumes.
