Philly Shipyard Inc is seeking a highly skilled Production Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of production installation drawings, manufacturing drawings, and bills of material.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and approve production installation drawings, manufacturing drawings, and bills of material to ensure accuracy and compliance with design standards.
  • Interface with design partners to revise and track the status of drawings and bills of material.
  • Participate in the build method planning process and provide input to ensure efficient installation of parts and equipment.
  • Collaborate with planning and production teams to determine the correct timing and discipline for installation of all parts and equipment.
  • Manage all drawing and bill of material releases and revisions, including uploading into document management and ERP systems.
  • Write scope of work documents to support tender of subcontracted labor.
  • Create and distribute engineering work packages for use by planning and production teams.
  • Develop installation procedures to explain complex installation processes.
  • Provide field support for assigned systems and areas, responding to issues and developing solutions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field, plus 2 years' experience, or Associates degree in drafting or related field plus 5 years' experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and basic CAD systems such as AutoCAD.
  • Experience with 3D modeling software, preferably Tribon or Aveva Marine.
  • Knowledge of ship design and modern shipbuilding practices.
  • Experience with American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Steel Vessel Rules, IMO Regulations, and US Coast Guard Requirements is a plus.
Working Conditions:

This is an onsite, full-time safety-sensitive position. Standard schedule is 9-hour days Monday through Thursday and 4 hours on Friday. Flexible start times are available. The majority of work will be performed in the Philly Shipyard office. Occasional field work in the shipyard's fabrication shops, dry docks, warehouses, and onboard the vessel will be required.
