Position Overview

The National World War II Museum is in search of a Research Associate for Historical Studies. This part-time role involves conducting research and writing for the Institute's Historical Research Services (HRS), engaging in various HRS responsibilities, and participating in public programs and presentations organized by the Institute.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the HRS in investigating the military service of World War II veterans.
  • Examine and analyze Official Military Personnel Files (OMPF).
  • Document, research, and respond to public inquiries received through designated communication channels.
  • Engage in and contribute to the Institute's public programs, seminars, and events.
  • Manage public requests for information directed to the Museum.
  • Participate in the intellectual activities of the Museum and support significant Institute events.
  • Provide assistance to Institute members with various tasks and undertake additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Historical Research Specialist.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of World War II, particularly the United States' involvement, along with a commitment to research and career aspirations aligned with the Institute for the Study of War and Democracy.
  • Applicants should possess a master's degree (MA) in American History, Military History, or a related field.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including proficiency in verbal, written, and digital formats.

Compensation: The starting wage for this position is $18.75 per hour, with potential for negotiation based on experience.
