Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Crimes Investigator to join our team at Truist Inc. As a key member of our Financial Intelligence Unit, you will play a critical role in identifying and investigating suspicious financial activity, ensuring compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive investigations of customers, analyzing transaction activity and identifying potential money laundering or terrorist financing risks.
  • Develop and implement automated transaction monitoring rules and reports to identify suspicious activity.
  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers and other stakeholders to gather information and support investigations.
  • Prepare and submit Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) as necessary.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing BSA/AML regulations and industry trends, providing expert guidance to the team.
Requirements
  • College degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • At least 6 years of experience in banking, financial industry, or related field, preferably in a branch, audit, compliance, or commercial lending capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of BSA regulations and related compliance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify and define issues, establish facts, and develop substantiated conclusions.
  • Strong investigative research and documentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership and external entities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Business or related field, or a graduate of a widely-recognized banking school.
  • 8 years of experience in investigation, law enforcement, or commercial lending.
  • Experience with BSA transaction monitoring or case management applications.
  • Knowledge of SAR filing requirements.
