POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Oversee and uphold the standard procedures and practices for the assigned loan portfolio, which encompass various risk factors including credit, interest rate, liquidity, price, transaction, foreign exchange, compliance, strategic, and reputational risks.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with SBA loan applications and credit evaluations to enhance revenue while ensuring the safety and soundness of loans for sustained profitability and growth.
  • Support the Team Leader in managing the credit and risk quality of the team's portfolio, including the authority to approve transactions and requests in their absence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Underwriting (60%):

  • Evaluate applicants' financial conditions, credit histories, and property assessments to ascertain the viability of loan approvals, preparing comprehensive credit analyses for each case.
  • Conduct underwriting for various commercial loans by scrutinizing corporate and personal financial statements, performing due diligence, completing AML/KYC requirements, and drafting credit reports.
  • Review loan submissions and assess credit information, providing detailed evaluations of applicants' creditworthiness.
  • Track and monitor loan activities, ensuring compliance with loan conditions, including the collection of financial statements and conducting Credit Reviews.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, loan processing, appraisal, and other relevant departments to provide necessary support.

Portfolio Management (40%):

  • Maintain and supervise the overall loan portfolio processes and practices to assist the Team Leader.
  • Engage with the Team Leader on specific initiatives such as portfolio assessments, updates to credit processes, and risk rating policies.
  • Analyze and consolidate market, industry, and risk data to develop specialized SBA loan portfolios.
  • Evaluate SBA loan portfolios and performance metrics, offering insights based on industry expertise.
  • Collaborate with origination and product specialists to refine credit strategies and formulate proactive plans for assigned portfolios.
  • Independently assess and manage risks within the segment, overseeing individual loan quality and performance.
  • Mitigate risks on complex SBA loans by adhering to operational standards, identifying irregular activities, and taking necessary actions.
  • Conduct credit risk assessments, portfolio stress testing, and collateral analyses relevant to loan structures.
  • Facilitate loan terminations, ensuring compliance and understanding among all involved parties.
  • Lead remedial credit management and analysis of structured transactions.
  • Prepare regular reports and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Assist the Team Leader in mentoring junior Loan Portfolio Officers in identifying and managing risks.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete all mandatory training related to the Bank's compliance and other applicable laws and regulations in a timely manner.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field is preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience with SBA loans is preferred.
  • Proficient in analyzing, underwriting, and managing SBA loan portfolios.
  • Strong skills in credit analysis, financial evaluation, sales, customer service, and communication.
  • Familiarity with commercial and industrial lending guidelines and relevant regulations.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data to develop SBA loan portfolio processes and practices.
  • Capable of negotiating substantial loan contracts and enhancing asset quality.
  • Proficient in using software for financial analysis and loan information management.
  • Formal credit training and CFA or similar certification is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to work in an office environment, sitting for extended periods, operating office equipment, and occasionally lifting documents weighing up to 30 pounds.

COMMUNICATION DEMANDS:

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills, with the ability to engage with all levels of management and staff.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Standard office setting with an average noise level. Requires normal hearing and vision capabilities.

COMPENSATION:

The base salary range for this position is USD $65,000.00/Yr. - USD $125,000.00/Yr., plus comprehensive benefits. The exact offer will be determined based on relevant knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
