Job Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Custodian III to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our state hospital buildings and treatment units.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform highly complex custodial work, including cleaning, sanitizing, and inspecting buildings and equipment.
• Order and restock supplies and equipment, and provide backup to other custodians as needed.
• Work under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure efficient operation of the patient care unit.
Requirements:
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures, including dusting, sweeping, and mopping.
• Knowledge of how to strip and wax floors, clean and disinfect restrooms and shower stalls, and maintain inventory control principles and methods.
• Skill in the use of custodial materials and chemicals, and in the operation of custodial equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written instructions, stay on task, and complete work timely.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand/walk on hard floors for extended periods, and work harmoniously and productively with co-workers and patients.
• Ability to work irregular hours and participate in disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation as needed.
