**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Development Specialist to join our team at the Alabama Department of Education. As a vital member of our staff, you will play a key role in providing support to students with communication disorders.

About the Role:

This position involves conducting language and speech screenings, evaluating and diagnosing children with speech and language disorders, and developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students on your caseload. You will also consult with principals and teachers regarding scheduling children for therapy, as well as coordinate the Language, Speech, and Hearing Services Program with other school programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and conduct language and speech screenings in schools
  • Evaluate and diagnose children with speech and language disorders
  • Develop IEPs for students on your caseload
  • Consult with principals and teachers regarding scheduling children for therapy
  • Coordinate the Language, Speech, and Hearing Services Program

Requirements:

  • State certification as determined by the Alabama State Department of Education and the American Speech and Language Association
  • Demonstrated aptitude/skill for job performance responsibilities
  • Must meet suitability criteria for employment under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457

Salary: The salary for this position is estimated to be around $65,000-$85,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
