Job Title: Clinical Nurse, Preop/PACU

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Nurse to join our Preoperative and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) team at The University of Kansas Health System.

Job Summary:

The Clinical Nurse, Preop/PACU will provide high-quality patient care to patients undergoing surgical procedures, ensuring a safe and smooth transition from the preoperative to the post-anesthesia care unit. This role requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess patient's physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, and review of medical records and clinical data.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care, prioritizing patient outcomes and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide direct patient care, including airway management, medication administration, and wound care.
  • Collaborate with the anesthesia team to ensure seamless transitions between preoperative and post-anesthesia care.
  • Document patient care and outcomes in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of safety and excellence.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Kansas.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Preferred certifications include Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
