Job Overview

Position: Sorting Technician

OBJECTIVE:

The primary goal of this role is to ensure the effective setup and functioning of inspection machinery while providing comprehensive training for both automated and manual sorting processes within the Sorting Department. This is crucial to guarantee that all products adhere to established quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to analyze specifications, customer blueprints, and internal documentation to verify product compliance.
  • Accountable for the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and interpretation of all Driv-Lok inspection machinery (including LED, Laser, and Electronic sorters).
  • Proficient in the use of various precision measurement tools.
  • Oversee and assist with manual sorting tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records for the designated area.
  • Understand the procedures for inventory stock entry.
  • Train personnel on automatic inspection systems, manual sorting techniques, and some aspects of material handling.
  • Process and recommend actions for inspected and rejected items.
  • Schedule departmental workloads, communicate overtime needs to the Supervisor, and collaborate with the Supervisor and Plant Controller on workload analysis and action strategies.
  • Ensure minimal overdue work order hours and maintain open orders with a backlog of less than 30 days.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Uphold cleanliness and organization in the assigned workspace.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor or their delegate.

Employees will work with inspection machinery, precision measuring devices, vibrator feeders, hand and forklift trucks, scoops, weight scales, hoists, and copy machines.
