Job Summary

As a full-time instructor in our Electronics program, you will be responsible for teaching a range of courses and providing instruction to post-secondary students in assigned content areas. This role may include weekend and evening instructional assignments.

This is a 9-month faculty position that will start on January 6th, 2024. The successful candidate will work closely with local high schools, industry, and university partners to develop curriculum that provides a clear path for students into the workforce.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and teach curriculum that aligns with industry standards and student learning outcomes

  • Strive for maximizing student success through continuous improvement planning based on assessment data and student learning outcome evidence
  • Provide instruction to post-secondary students in assigned content areas and developing related instructional materials
  • Maintain consistent office hours and attend in-service meetings each semester
  • Participate in statewide, college-level, and program-level planning and curriculum development
  • Participate on committees or boards and serve as an advisor with a student committee or board
  • Advise students and instruct and evaluate students in theory and laboratory
  • Order parts and supplies for classroom and laboratory within budgeted amounts and maintain student records
  • Inventory and update equipment as required and feasible to stay current to industry standards
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Electronics or a related field
  • 3 years' Electronic Systems experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with PLC, Instrumentation, and Motor Controls
  • Experience with basic electronics DC/AC/Solid State/Digital
  • Incumbent must reside in the State of Idaho
Additional Desired Qualifications
  • Previous teaching experience at the two-year and/or four-year college level
  • Cybersecurity and networking experience for future integration of cyber-physical curriculum
  • Experience with educational technology and software including Canvas or related LMS
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position requires sitting, standing, walking, keyboarding, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, lifting and moving objects weighing 50 pounds, carrying, gross manipulations (involves hands), climbing, crawling, squatting, stooping, crouching, and standing or sitting (combination). The employee will operate machinery in a manufacturing environment and frequent exposure to fluids and noise which are common to the industry.

Onsite work is essential and regular predictable attendance is required. Employees may be required to work at occasional events and handle tasks outside of regular working hours.

Background Investigations: Employment at College of Eastern Idaho will be contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation and may require a credit and/or motor vehicle background investigation depending on the position.
