Klamath Community College is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach forest ecology courses online. The successful candidate will have a strong background in forest ecology and experience teaching in a community college setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Prepare and teach forest ecology courses as assigned.
- Implement effective grading policies and methods of student assessment.
- Provide clear information to students regarding course syllabi, objectives, texts, and materials.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic progress.
- Recognize individual differences in the classroom and adapt instructional techniques accordingly.
- Communicate early with students regarding possible academic failure.
- Assist students with academic difficulties and provide support for their success.
- Encourage and motivate students to do their best.
- Refer students to appropriate staff or resources for information, guidance, or placement.
- Understand and enforce regulations in the school catalog, student handbook, and student dress guidelines.
- Review and respond to questions from email and the classroom setting.
- Work with the program coordinator to discuss changes or updates to the course.
- Timely post grades to the online gradebook and adhere to college attendance and grade posting dates.
- Submit academic information, such as course syllabi and final grade reports, on time to the registrar or dean.
- Continuously develop professional skills by staying current with changes in the field.
- Attend scheduled faculty, department, and committee meetings as assigned.
- Hold a master's degree with 3 years' work experience or a bachelor's degree with 5 years' recent work experience or professional competency by successfully teaching and working in forestry.
The successful candidate will be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
