Studio Lead, Mechanical Engineering

As a key member of our team, the Studio Lead, Mechanical Engineering will be responsible for leading efforts on key projects, overseeing the overall vision, quality, and implementation. This role will establish and reinforce expectations of the studio discipline throughout all project phases, building and maintaining relationships with clients, and participating in strategic initiatives, quality requirements, and policy.

Responsibilities
  • Lead efforts on key projects as the primary lead engineer responsible for overall vision, quality, and implementation.
  • Establish and reinforce expectations of the studio discipline throughout all project phases.
  • Build, develop, and maintain new and long-standing relationships with clients.
  • Participate with firm and studio leadership to vision, plan, and implement strategic initiatives, quality requirements, and policy.
  • Manage and assist with marketing or other engineering groups.
  • Work with all disciplines to build team performance.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs the work of Engineers, EITs, and Specialists.
  • Mentors and develops training and educational opportunities for staff engineers and technicians in all aspects of the work, including communication, management, project quality, and sales.
  • Attends client meetings and communicates with clients, consultants, contractors, and others during various stages of project development.
  • Performs marketing and business development activities, including building relationships with key clients and strategic partners, proposal writing, fee estimates, and client interviews.
  • Participates in recruiting and hiring for discipline.
  • Assists Project Managers with fee development for engineering portions of work.
Qualifications
  • 6+ years licensed experience / 5+ years team management.
  • ABET-accredited degree in Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer required.
General Characteristics
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of codes and related industry standards.
  • Production experience preparing deliverable drawing sets in Revit and AutoCAD required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency using industry-standard calculation software required.
  • Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.
