Job Summary

This part-time position is responsible for performing skilled work in custodial, grounds, and building maintenance, as well as coordinating the work activities of staff engaged in similar duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of offices, classrooms, labs, and hallways, including vacuuming, emptying trash containers, recycling, dusting, and cleaning glass and floors.
  • Operate and maintain building service equipment, including hand tools, power tools, lawn mowers, and snow removal equipment.
  • Perform routine building maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, making minor repairs to buildings, electrical, plumbing, and other equipment as needed.
  • Assist in general grounds maintenance, including plowing and shoveling snow, sweeping at doorways, clearing snow/ice, and salting areas as assigned.
  • Ensure that all equipment used meets safe operating guidelines and that all buildings, grounds, and equipment are maintained in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Provide security for buildings in the absence of the Campus Safety Officer and ensure that buildings are secured and alarmed at the end of the shift.
  • Participate in building and room set-up to accommodate functions and activities of students and guests.
  • Follow safety guidelines for all work performed and report safety concerns to management on a timely basis.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or high school equivalency.
  • Two years' experience in custodial, grounds-keeping, or light maintenance work with equipment operation and maintenance and some supervisory or project coordination experience.
  • Possession of a valid New Hampshire driver's license.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and adjust work hours during special or emergency events.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of cleaning services in a large building complex.
  • Considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Ability to effectively supervise subordinates and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
