About the Role

Amazon is seeking a highly analytical and data-driven Business Intelligence Engineer to join our team in Herndon, VA, Arlington, VA, or Seattle, WA. As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to gather business and functional requirements, translate them into robust solutions, and drive best practices in source teams. Your expertise in data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines will be essential in delivering comprehensive, usable dataset documentation and metadata.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics
  • Developing and maintaining data models, warehouses, and ETL pipelines
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather business and functional requirements
  • Driving best practices in source teams
  • Analyzing large amounts of data to discover and solve real-world problems

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, or equivalent quantitative field
  • 4+ years of experience analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, etc.
  • 4+ years of experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
  • 4+ years of experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • 4+ years of experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, or equivalent quantitative field

4+ years of experience working as a BIE in a technology company

4+ years of experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

3+ years of experience with forecasting and statistical analysis

3+ years of experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift

3+ years of experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS, and Matlab
