Data Engineer II, Workforce Intelligence

As a Data Engineer II with Amazon's Workforce Intelligence team, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and operating large-scale data structures for analytics and data science. You will work closely with engineers, data scientists, and business intelligence engineers to gather business and functional requirements and translate them into robust, scalable, and operable solutions with a flexible and adaptable data architecture.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing data ingestion routines using best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and leveraging AWS technologies and big data tools.
- Gathering business and functional requirements and translating them into robust, scalable, and operable solutions with a flexible and adaptable data architecture.
- Collaborating with engineers to help adopt best practices in data system creation, data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
- Helping to continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service modeling and production support for customers.
About the Team
The Workforce Intelligence team supports the Workforce Staffing organization by transforming data into insights on high-volume hiring within Amazon. While WFS is responsible for the management of the Tier 1 talent supply chain, the Workforce Intelligence team focuses on defining analytics that measure the performance of the program. We continue to work on metrics that help monitor the health of the program and identify efficiencies in the process path through the power of data and predictive analytics.
Requirements
Basic qualifications include:
- 3+ years of data engineering experience.
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions.
- Experience with non-relational databases/data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases).
- Experience with Airflow, Step functions, or other orchestration frameworks.

Compensation
The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors, including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company, and dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
