Congressional School is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Physical Education Teacher/Coach to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a dynamic and engaging physical education program that fosters a lifelong love of fitness and health in our students.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching and Coaching: Develop and implement lesson plans that promote physical fitness, rhythm and dance, and individual and team sports. Provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Student Assessment and Progression: Evaluate each student's growth in physical skills, knowledge, and contribution in team sports. Communicate with parents and the administration on student progress.
- Program Development and Management: Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment. Provide appropriate safety instruction and make safety checks on equipment and areas.
- Collaboration and Professional Development: Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum. Attend staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, in-service days, and other professional and community activities.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in physical education or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years' relevant teaching experience, preferably in an independent school. Minimum 2 years' coaching experience at the middle school or upper school level with the ability to coach three seasons.
- Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in child development and educational practices. Strong initiative and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in a joyful, collegial, and collaborative environment.
